Suzanne Hamar, Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida

Suzanne Hamar, MA, Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, contact information and credentials, including Qualified Supervisor-MHC

Do you wonder if your child will heal from the abuse they experienced? Do you feel helpless to support them as they walk a path no one, much less a child, should have to negotiate?

Are you concerned that your teen is pulling away and isolating themselves? Do the most basic interactions feel combative or unwelcomed?

Is your family still finding its new normal after a traumatic event or the shifting dynamics that occur as children develop?

My name is Suzanne Hamar. I have over three decades of experience counseling people facing the challenges mentioned above and more. I currently serve children, adolescents, and adult women. I am passionate about walking alongside these individuals through some of life’s most difficult moments, especially children who have been sexually abused. I am familiar with the challenges inherent to foster care or preparation for adoption. In addition to offering therapeutic support, I have also been a trusted expert witness testimony in cases of child abuse and/or neglect.

Much of my work has also centered around my time with high school students who are navigating suicide ideation, homelessness, or the uncertainty of their future. I have been honored to help them discover purpose, set meaningful goals, and hold on to hope. My heart’s desire is to encourage others; I am someone who desires to help others not just survive, but truly live. I love being part of a team where I can consult with peers and grow together in our shared mission to bring hope and healing.

Most of all, I treasure the moments when God’s word comes alive in the counseling room and I get to witness His restoration at work in a person’s heart. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing children who once carried deep wounds begin to walk in healing, hope, and a renewed sense of purpose. Families who thought they would never smile again are finding new paths forward, stronger and more supportive of one another.

I have witnessed and walked through countless stories of pain, perseverance, and redemption. Time and again, I am reminded that no journey is hidden from God’s sight. As Psalm 139:16 says, “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” This truth fuels my hope for every client I meet—your story is not over, and it is not forgotten. If you are ready to begin the next chapter in your healing journey, I would be honored to walk with you.
