Are there benefits to the client being private pay and not using insurance?

When your mental health care is private pay you have the strictest confidence, avoiding the need for a mental health diagnosis to be communicated to a third party.  Additionally, there is no need to negotiate service duration as you and your clinician can determine what is best for you on an individual basis.  Your care is truly tailored to you, not to a medical diagnostic code.

How long can I expect to be in therapy

The length of your treatment can be discussed with your therapist to determine what is best for you and your needs. There are some clients with challenges that benefit from a few appointments of changed perspective or cognitive reframe and they are good to go.  Others, with complicated trauma or years of unresolved pain, may take longer.  Some clients, once symptoms have stabilized or resolved, wish to come in periodically for a “booster’ or “tune-up”.  This is always an option available to you.  Please discuss your desire and expectations around the length of treatment with your clinician.  Together you will work out the best plan for you.

Do I have to come every week

In the beginning, weekly visits are often recommended. Building a trusted relationship and establishing rapport with your clinician is integral to the efficacy of your treatment.  With large gaps of time between appointments, creating emotional safety can be difficult.  It is particularly difficult for young children and adolescents to have extended time between appointments.  We do understand therapy is a financial investment that pays big dividends. Talk to your clinician about pacing your appointments. This can also be an ongoing conversation you may revisit periodically.

Why do different therapists charge different rates

Rates of service are determined with the consideration of many factors.  Each clinician has listed what they have determined to be the appropriate fee for their skill set and experience.  If you research the cost of counseling, you will find our rates to be very competitive.

Should I see a licensed clinician over an intern

The clinician you choose to see is completely up to you.  Licensed professionals have passed applicable state board exams and had years of supervised clinical practice.  Qualified supervisors have completed even more years of experience and training to be recognized as state supervisors.  Please know that all interns have the same education as any licensed clinician in that same profession.  All of the registered interns also receive weekly clinical supervision.  That being said, if you see an intern, you are getting two minds working towards your wellness, the intern and their supervisor.  You are in excellent care with any intern here at Boundless Hope.  Their clinical experience, business experience, personal character, and integrity have been evaluated and validated.

What if my spouse won’t come to therapy and my marriage is in trouble

Ahhh, yes like many. I know how concerning this can be for you.  Please do come though. You will be pleasantly surprised by the benefit of one spouse making changes.  Marriage is an intimate dyad and the positive effects tend to spill over when even one partner alters their thinking.

Why do you want to see me if my child is the client

You know your child so well.  We trust you and your insight to your child. Additionally, your child lives far more of their life with you than the one hour with us. Your child may need encouragement or accountability to work on therapy homework.  This may help ensure optimal therapy outcomes.

What should I expect as I have never been in therapy before

Welcome!  It is our humble privilege to work with you. You can expect a caring, professional relationship with your clinician.  Compassionate understanding, supportive guidance, and a trusting relationship are hallmarks of working with a Boundless Hope therapist.  You can expect the opportunity to speak freely, to practice exercises, to watch short video clips, and to receive handouts or articles to read.   We are committed to personal, confidential, and compassionate counseling.  Many of our clients have been elsewhere and convey that they are grateful to have been referred to us.

I have been in therapy before and it didn’t work. Why would it work with a Boundless Hope clinician

We pray that we are always found faithful with each and every one of our clients.  Life is filled with seasons. Therapy can work differently with different clinicians and during different seasons.  Give us a try!

I don’t have a faith or church background. Is that a problem

No, not at all.  We were not all steeped in the faith. We are sensitive and respectful of those who don’t share our faith.  We want to meet you where you are and cultivate healing in your life.  You are safe with us.

I have a faith/church background, but don’t want my therapy to be about religion. Is my therapist going to force religion on me

No. You can expect professional, caring, respectful interaction with your clinician. Not only will we not force faith or religion on you, we won’t force anything on you.  You have choices. We want to support you as you evaluate your options and make the best choice for you.

I am functioning pretty well emotionally but could use some spiritual guidance and mentoring. Is this the right place

Absolutely!  We all have extensive mentoring experience.  We also have a huge heart for the sanctification process and would love to join you on your journey.

I am an evangelical Christian but may have different denominational doctrine differences.  Will that interfere with our work

It is heartbreaking that there can be so much division among Christians. It is our priority to respect denominational differences while guarding the sanctity of core theology.  You can expect freedom and flexibility in practices of worship.  There are denominational differences even among our team of Boundless Hope clinicians and we work great together!

I travel quite a bit. Could we have a video session

Most definitely, as long as you’re traveling within the state. We offer HIPPA-compliant online video sessions for clients anywhere within the state of Florida.

What is the Good Faith Estimate (GFE)?

The Good Faith Estimate suggests expected charges for services provided pursuant to the No Surprises Act. This federal act was instituted to avoid balance or surprise billing to recipients of healthcare services using out-of-network or self-pay medical services. This document is a required effort to be in compliance with such regulations. You will need to sign a GFE that will outline what your therapy services will cost.

You are entitled to receive this Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of the charges you can expect for psychotherapy services provided to you. While it is not possible for a psychotherapist to know, in advance, how many psychotherapy sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a given person, this form provides an estimate of the cost of services provided. Your total cost of services will depend upon the number of psychotherapy sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the type and amount of services that are provided to you.

Your therapist may recommend additional items or services as part of your care. These must be scheduled or requested separately and are not reflected in your GFE. This estimate is NOT a contract and does NOT obligate you to obtain any services from the provider(s) listed, nor does it include any services rendered to you that are not identified on the GFE.

You have the right to initiate a dispute resolution process if the actual amount you are charged exceeds your GFE by $400 or more.

For questions or more information about your right to a GFE or the dispute process, you can call the “No Surprises Help Desk” at 1-800-985-3059. Rest assured that the quality of the services furnished to you will not be adversely affected if you choose to initiate the patient-provider dispute resolution process.
