Shelby Hoovler, Intern in Florida
Are you or your child struggling with anxiety, overwhelming emotions, or challenges that feel difficult to navigate?
Do you find yourself noticing patterns in relationships or struggling to understand how past experiences may be affecting the present?
Are you a parent hoping to better understand your child or teen and support them through the challenges they are facing?
Are you walking through a season of uncertainty, change, or personal growth and looking for a place to feel heard and understood?
I believe that every individual has inherent worth and the capacity for growth. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences, exploring challenges, and discovering your strengths. I value the importance of building genuine connections and believe that feeling heard and understood can be an important first step toward meaningful change.
My Christian faith is an important part of my life, and I believe it can be a meaningful source of hope, perspective, and encouragement. I value the opportunity to incorporate faith into counseling when it aligns with a client's beliefs, values, and preferences.
Above all, I want every individual to feel respected, welcomed, and supported in their personal journey.
I am passionate about supporting individuals and families through the many seasons of life, from the uncertainties of childhood and adolescence to the transitions, relationships, and responsibilities of adulthood. Whether you are working through emotional struggles, navigating changes in relationships, trying to better understand yourself, or seeking support for your child, I hope to provide a space where you can slow down, gain perspective, and move forward with greater confidence.
My approach is influenced by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment Theory, and faith-integrated counseling. I value helping clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and past experiences influence the way they navigate life today. I am also passionate about the importance of healthy connections and believe that meaningful relationships can play an important role in personal growth and healing.
I bring over seven years of professional experience working with adolescents in educational and community settings. Throughout this time, I have developed a strong appreciation for the importance of trust, connection, and creating environments where young people feel valued and supported. These experiences have shaped my passion for helping individuals navigate the challenges that come with different stages of life and reminding them that they do not have to face those challenges alone.
I work with children, teens, adults, couples and families. I believe counseling is not about having all the answers or figuring everything out at once. It is about having someone walk alongside you, helping you recognize your strengths, understand your experiences, and discover the possibilities for growth that may be ahead.
